Proact AB, the Swedish IT firm specializing in data storage, is known for securing mission-critical information, tuning its solutions to a variety of industries. With 19 locations in eight European companies, they needed a compact and expressive visual selling tool that made their services and message more accessible. The result, a 4-minute film that they launched at a capital markets day at the Clarion Hotel hosted by Remium. Marketing manager Anna Söderström is happy that the production took only three weeks from start to finish and resulted in an “animated calling card”. Film graphics and production were handled by Miro Productions, www.miro.se, while Battison & Partners was responsible for message planning and manuscript. China catches up – Web 2.0
Springtime, a PR and communications company with offices in Stockholm and Beijing, has just published Catching up fast: PR and marketing in a Web 2.0 China. Authors Patrik Lockne, Ola Spännar, Göran Thorstenson and Johan Björkstén explore how companies can harness the Internet as a marketing tool in an increasingly tech-savvy China, which will soon pass the US as the country with the largest number of Internet users. But the typical Chinese Internet user – most often young, well-educated and relatively well-off – are also a new breed. Just because a communication strategy is tried and tested in the West doesn't mean it will work in China. The authors look at the entire gamut of Internet communications, from corporate websites and press room design to blogging and online communities. This book is required reading for companies looking to establish an online presence in China, as well as for anyone else interested in online marketing. Battison & Partners is proud to have provided Springtime with editorial support during the book’s final stages. The book will soon be available for purchase through Amazon, Bokus and Adlibris.

Writing for new media
On Wednesday, 29th August 2007, blogger and new media expert Stefan Geens, author of Ogle Earth, shared his expertise with the Ampersand network. He spoke about how to adapt language to the world of Web 2.0 and 3D worlds, such as Second Life. The message: old media is here to stay, but look out for new possibilities with niche blogging, Google Earth and interactive media. How do you establish yourself as a writer in this brave new world? Keep it short and pithy and be more media savvy than those you are pitching to. If you start a blog, set out with the goal of establishing yourself as the expert in your respective field. You might not make money right off the bat, but it''ll pay off in other ways – new assignments, consulting gigs and reputation. See his presentation here.
